Saggital projection

Placenta appears as an echogenic structure separated from the anechoic liquor in anterior or posterior walls of the uterus either in the upper segment of the fundus or in the lower segment closer to the cervical os or covering the os


     
Coronal projection
Placenta appears in lateral, anterior or posterior walls

Normal anatomy of the foetus
  • GS is a hypo echoic oval or rounded structure that lies with in the uterine cavity.
  • The size & appearances change with time. Embryo is an echogenic structure that appear with in the GS in early pregnancy which increases in size & appearance with time 
  • Embryo develops in to the foetus & is identified with in the anechoic liquor pool with in the uterus.
  • Following foetal organs can be identified.
        • Heart,
        • spine,
        • head etc
        • Amniotic sac
        • placenta identified
